人人都说女人三十如儿狼，四十如虎，所以到了中年的男人压力可想而知。中年以后的人们都是在上有老下有小的艰苦阶段挣扎，所以精神世界是极需要放松的时期。文章以设问的形式立题相当新颖，中与终是两个截然不同的概念。是人生两种境界的参照，尤其是在前三十年压抑中度过的男人，此时是一个选择，是继续压抑至老，还是换一种激荡的活法。每一种选择都会有得有失，尤其是后一种，在身负重但的情况下，忽然爽起来更是风险极大搞不好外面彩旗没飘，家里红旗先倒。文章将一个身在中年的人心里描写得不错，郁闷，惆怅，患得患失的闷骚型到“豁然开浪”，信手拈来的孟浪型，确实有点映照现实的意味呵。
